Books of Honor

The scholarship of future students, faculty, alumni and friends depends on a library collection that is maintained in its excellence and accessibility.

The Books of Honor program was created to help ensure that students and faculty have the library resources that are crucial to their studies and teaching. The program was established to guarantee the UF community the essential resources needed to maintain the quality of education, learning and creativity that it has come to expect.

You are invited to participate in the program by providing the libraries with the gift of books in the subject area of your choosing. A bookplate will be placed inside each book and in the online catalog with your name and the name of a special person in whose honor the book has been purchased. Your gift will support a critical acquisitions need while paying a lasting tribute to a loved one, friend, professor, graduate, parent or colleague.

When you make your gift to the George A. Smathers Libraries’ Books of Honor program, a letter of acknowledgement and a copy of the bookplate will be sent to you and the honoree or his or her family.
